Inspirational Dancers 50+ Prove Age is Just a Number

The Move Free Dancers Encourage Active Adults to Keep Moving

During National African-American Women’s Fitness Month

Cathy Simpson

(AANEWSWIRE)SALT LAKE CITY, UT (April 1, 2009)  The Move Free Dancers, a recreational performing dance troupe of active adults, age 50 and above, are encouraging African-American women to “keep moving” during National African-American Women’s Fitness Month in April.  The troupe, sponsored by Schiff®, the makers of Move Free® Advanced, and led by celebrity choreographer Johnnie P., is on a mission to inspire people of all ages to maintain strong and healthy joints so they can do the things they love to do, at any age.  Through their dance moves and positive attitudes, they would like to educate and inspire adults regarding the importance of staying physically fit and provide examples of adults 50+ who are living active and fulfilling lives.

“In the Move Free Dancers, we have an incredible group of inspirational men and women, and we really want to get the message out that just because you are 50 or older you don't have to let joint discomfort get in the way of your dance moves,” said Johnnie P., celebrity choreographer for the Move Free Dancers.  “Styles may have changed over the years, but dance is more popular than ever these days – and it’s an easy, fun form of exercise that just about everyone can do.”

John Paolillo, also known as Johnnie P., has been a renowned choreographer for television and stage for more than 15 years.  His choreography is a culmination of his in-depth training in Jazz, Modern, Funk, Tap, Hip-Hop and Musical Theater.

Paolillo, who personally chose the nine dancers during open auditions in New York City, selected performers from diverse backgrounds with one thing in common:  they are passionate about keeping fit and will not let anything get in their way.  From academics to doctors to parents and even grandparents, the Move Free Dancers are in incredible shape -- and spirit!

One of the lead dancers is Cathy Simpson, a 54-year-old African-American actress/dancer, who also is a medical doctor.  “I started dancing later in life.  Interestingly, though dance was my major activity prior to coming to New York, I didn't consider I would ever have an opportunity to do more than take classes with many fabulous (and much younger) dancers,” said Simpson upon her selection to be a Move Free Dancer.   “I'm incredulous at the wonder of it all, having had many teachers, formally and informally, and having learned so much as I've matriculated through life.”

Simpson, who was born in Chicago and was graduated from the Mayo Medical School in Rochester, Minn., came to New York five years ago to take a shot at the footlights.  “I felt as if I'd come home,” she reflected.  “The absolute best decision and my most proud achievement was when I quit my job as an assistant professor at a major medical school in Detroit to come to New York and re-create my life; I did and I've never been happier!”

The Move Free Dancers maintain a healthy and active lifestyle through proper diet, exercise and a regimen of Move Free® Advanced, a daily dietary supplement for joint health from Schiff®.  Move Free® Advanced is a proprietary formula that combines Glucosamine and Chondroitin with two cutting-edge, advanced ingredients called Uniflex® and Joint Fluid.  Move Free® Advanced has been clinically tested. And unlike products that just contain Glucosamine and Chondroitin which take up to 4 to 6 weeks to start working, Move Free® Advanced starts comforting sore joints in less than 7 days†  While results may vary from person to person, many consumers report improved joint comfort and mobility with Move Free® Advanced.
