Los Angeles, Calif. -- Celebrating its 26th year, the Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival (LAAPFF) is proud to announce that Toyota Motors Sales, USA, will again be their Official Vehicle Sponsor. Produced by Visual Communications, the nation’s premier Asian Pacific American media arts center, the LAAPFF will screen 170 films from over 20 countries beginning April 29 – May 8, 2010. The festival kicks off opening night with the screening of Berlin Film Festival hit "Au Revoir Taipei" (Taiwan/United States/Germany, 2010) and closes out the festival with Hong Kong’s recent box office smash action film "Bodyguard and Assassins" (Hong Kong, 2009). The festival screenings will be held across Los Angeles -- in Hollywood, Downtown, Little Tokyo and Koreatown. Toyota’s partnership and support of the Asian American independent film scene and the Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival goes deeper than the traditional program ad or corporate banner at an event. “We are excited to have Toyota back as our Official Vehicle Sponsor this year,” said Shinae Yoon, executive director of Visual Communications. “Their creative ideas and exciting events planned throughout the festival will make for a very unique and entertaining festival experience for our filmgoers.” At the festival this year, Toyota will again have a vibrant presence at key events including opening, closing and centerpiece screenings, as well as marquee events such as Cinema Musica! , Armed With A Camera and a special outdoor screening of martial artist/actor Bruce Lee’s "The Chinese Connection" as part of his 70th birthday celebration. The excitement continues online at thedirectorschairsite.com -- Toyota’s exclusive website solely dedicated to Asian American cinema. This entertainment portal features interviews with filmmakers and actors, and the latest buzz on Toyota events. At key festival events and screenings, fest-goers will have an opportunity to get creative and strike a pose at the Toyota photo booth. And, for those desiring to tap into their inner thespian, they can act out a scene in front of a “green screen” and take part in Toyota’s Live Film Project.
