NEW YORK, - This past October the White House dispatched two Cabinet officials in response to the beating of 16-year-old Derrion Albert in a street brawl that resulted in death in Chicago. Last year a 13-year-old boy was fatally shot in the chest in Harlem, New York. Two additional young men were wounded in the same shooting. Among 10 to 24 year olds, homicide is the leading cause of death for African Americans and the second leading cause of death for Hispanics.
