Hill, Vice President, Social Policy and Government Affairs, of Catholic Charities USA, in Alexandria, Virginia, will participate in an interactive dialogue-briefing on Monday, June 15th at 3:00-4:30 PM at the ICO CENTER, located on East 47th Street, between First & Second Avenue, above Holy Family Church, in New York City. Hill, a native of Michigan, joined Catholic Charities USA in the summer of 2005 after serving for five years as the president and CEO of Catholic Charities of Monroe County in Michigan. From 1999 to 2001, Hill was the diocesan director of agencies and institutions for the Archdiocese of Detroit, serving as liaison between the Archdiocese and its eight social services agencies and 33 affiliates. Prior to joining the Archdiocese, she worked for more than 25 years for the State of Catholic Charities USA’s members—more than 1,700 local Catholic Charities agencies and institutions nationwide—provide help and create hope for nearly 8 million people a year regardless of religious, social, or economic backgrounds. For almost 300 years, Catholic Charities agencies have worked to reduce poverty by providing a myriad of vital services in their communities, ranging from health care and job training to food and housing. As vice president for social policy and government affairs for Catholic Charities USA, Candy S. Hill is responsible for directing the organization’s federal advocacy efforts; representing Catholic Charities USA on Capitol Hill and with the administration; and serving as the organization’s spokesperson on social policy. She serves as board member of Coalition on Human Needs, Diversity Committee of the Catholic Health Association, and has been an adjunct professor at Catholic University of America Columbus School of Law.
