WHAT:
A buffet dinner community leaders
celebrating the Brighton Beach and Coney Island communities and the
new TV show for immigrants, We Are New York. The TV show was created
by the Mayors Office of Adult Education and the City University of New
York to help immigrant New Yorkers improve their English skills and
learn more about essential City services and other important
resources.
The nine-episode series is based on the lives of immigrants in New
York City and is airing every
Saturday at 4:00 pm and Sunday at 7:30 am on NYC TV Channel 25 (22 on
Cablevision). The
show can also be seen on cable Channel 74 on Friday at 10:00 pm and
Sunday at 1:00 pm.
We Are New York is a new way to learn English on TV. The show offers
stories of hope, love,
and community while teaching immigrant New Yorkers the English they
need to make their way
in the Big Apple.
