Health Care Groups, Senator Gillibrand, House Members Join National Push for Health Care Reform in 2009

Senator Commits to Being a Health Care Champion in 2009

New York, NY - Senator Gillibrand and New York members of the House of Representatives will be holding a press conference on Monday, April 13th to stress the need for the Congress to pass legislation in 2009 guaranteeing quality, affordable health care for all.  The press conference follows a "health care roundtable" meeting between Senator Gillibrand and 19 leading New York City-based health care organizations to brief the Senator on the priority health care concerns of New York working families and to develop a common strategy for reform.

Senator Gillibrand and the House members will announce their strong support and commitment to fight for the reform principles developed by Health Care for America Now -- the nation's largest health care campaign.  The principles are supported by over 190 members of Congress.  Today's "health care roundtable" is among the over 100 events being held in 44 states during the April Congressional recess to stress that health care reform is an urgent priority for Congress when members return to Washington.

The roundtable participants are: 32BJ SEIU, 1199 SEIU, ACORN, AFSCME DC 37, AFL-CIO, Citizen Action of NY, Children's Def. Fund of NY, Comm. of Interns and Residents/SEIU Healthcare, Community Service Soc., Commun.
