Minority and Women Owned Law Firm Conference to Convene In Chicago on October 5-7, 2009

MILWAUKEE, -- Attorneys from in-house legal departments and minority and women owned law firms nationwide will soon gather in Chicago to discuss issues such as the impact of the economic downturn, litigation ethics in the electronic age and the rapid growth of class action lawsuits over wage and hour disputes.

The 2009 National Association of Minority and Women Owned Law Firms (NAMWOLF) Annual Meeting and Law Firm Expo will take place October 5-7, 2009 at the Sheraton Chicago Hotel and Towers. The event is open to in-house counsel and NAMWOLF member law firms.

The event features legal issue-oriented and Continuing Legal Education sessions, networking events and presentations of the Annual Diversity Initiative Achievement Award and the 2009 Award for Outstanding Service by an Advisory Council Member. The Law Firm Expo provides an opportunity for in-house legal counsel to meet with top-ranked minority and women owned law firms.

Presenters and panelists for the three-day conference include in-house legal counsel from corporations such as Accenture, Chrysler, HCR ManorCare, Intrado, Microsoft, MillerCoors, Nestle USA, Panasonic, Prudential Financial, Visa and Wal-Mart, along with attorneys representing minority and women owned law firms from across the country.

Corporate sponsors and supporters of the event include Accenture, Allstate, AON, ArcelorMittal USA, AT&T, Banco Popular, Bank of America, Blue Cross & Blue Shield, ConAgra Foods, DuPont, Exelon, JPMorgan Chase, KBR, KeyCorp, Kodak, Kraft, Marcus Corporation, Microsoft, MillerCoors, Nationwide Mutual Insurance, PepsiAmericas, Pfizer, Prudential Financial, Ringler Associates, Tyco International, Verizon Communications, Visa, Wal-Mart, We Energies and Wellpoint.

"This is the premier event of its kind for in-house legal counsel to come together with minority and women owned law firms to discuss important legal issues and opportunities," said Yolanda Coly, NAMWOLF Managing Director.

About NAMWOLF

NAMWOLF is comprised of 75 certified MWBE firms located throughout the U.S. Firms are admitted to NAMWOLF only after undergoing a rigorous screening process - overseen by in-house counsel - requiring that firms be AV-rated by Martindale-Hubbell, have a record of successfully representing multiple institutional clients, and pass a detailed reference check with only superior recommendations from clients. NAMWOLF's Annual Meeting, held each fall, facilitates relationships between in-house counsel and member law firms.
