Illinois Police Question Traffic-Stop Study

The 2010 results for a traffic stop study were just released by the Illinois Department of Transportation. The study is supposed to determine whether minority drivers were being stopped and ticketed more often than white drivers in Illinois. Since 2004, every officer who makes a traffic stop is required to fill out a separate form indicating the driver’s race, the reason for the stop, whether the driver was given a ticket or warning and whether the car was searched.
