ONE NATION UNDER THE SOUL SHACK (ONUTSS) ANNOUNCES NEW YORK TRIBUTE TO LUTHER VANDROSS

Independent Soul Music Promotion Company Hosts Tribute to Legendary Crooner

Tribute Flyer

New York, NY (BlackNews.com) - One Nation Under The Soul Shack, also known to many as the acronym, "ONUTSS" has announced a tribute to the late soul crooner Luther Vandross on what would have been his fifty-eighth birthday at New York's renowned jazz club, The Blue Note on April 20, 2009. This special evening will celebrate the musical treasures left behind by Vandross. The featured performers - Gordon Chambers, Kenny Wesley, V and Bradd Marquis - offer a range of vocal talent that promise to leave a lasting memory in the minds and ears of all who gather.

Before making his debut as a recording artist in his own right, Chambers, a gifted writer, won a Grammy Award for penning Anita Baker's I Apologize and has worked with many of music's biggest names, including Aretha Franklin, The Isley Brothers, Beyoncé, Brownstone and Carl Thomas to name a few. Kenny Wesley's devoted love of music has led him to travel globally to perform for international dignitaries. His music has been played on The View and other noteworthy televised settings. V also continues to make a name for himself as a solo artist. He's toured the world, working with well-known musicians like DJ Jazzy Jeff and most recently, Jill Scott. His long awaited sophomore CD, The Paradox was recently released. Bradd Marquis is a soul sensation who claims the influence of Sam Cooke and Donny Hathaway as part of his apparent vocal prowess. With appearances on Showtime at the Apollo, several of BET's live shows and showcases around the New York area, Bradd is one to watch.

This special evening of entertainment will be hosted by Lorenda Robinson, the statuesque front woman for noted jazz group, Brown Baby Girl and backed by a custom in-house band including seasoned young musicians, Daru Jones, Kim Davis, Alex Marcelo and Kelvyn Bell, who will serve as Musical Director.

Reservations at The Blue Note are highly recommended and can be made through their Web site at www.bluenote.net/newyork or by calling 212-475-8592.

ONUTSS (One Nation Under The Soul Shack) was a vision created by Detrel Howell and Pamela Nichols in August 2006. As lovers of music that is not typically played on mainstream radio -- this team wanted to create opportunities to expose others to the rich sounds of independent soul. The ONUTSS team hosts monthly listening parties/mini-showcases that feature some of the best musicians in the indie soul scene. Eric Roberson, Choklate, PJ Morton, Gordon Chambers, Angela Johnson, Liv Warfield, Antonia Jenae and Brown Baby Girl are a few of the artists who have been showcased. The "listening parties" are more than just simple gatherings of music lovers and music makers, they have become the most sought after networking events for independent soul contributors (musicians, promoters, producers, label executives, etc.). It speaks volumes to the credibility and professionalism of ONUTSS that several artists have traveled from around the United States and from areas in Europe to participate in an ONUTSS event. The ONUTSS Team has a strong presence on the web via their website (www.onutss.com), Myspace (www.myspace.com/onutss) and a Facebook group.
