Where:  Union Square plaza, north side of 14th Street between University Place and Union Square East, across from Whole Foods.

Who:  Transportation advocates, volunteers and citywide allies (NYPIRG Straphangers Campaign, Tri-State Transportation Campaign, Regional Plan Association, Transportation Alternatives, Campaign for New York’s Future, New York League of Conservation Voters, Environmental Defense Fund).  All groups available for interview.

What:  Transportation advocates will provide subway, bus and commuter rail riders with invoices to Governor Paterson, Speaker Silver and Majority Leader Smith, calling for commuters to be reimbursed for fast-approaching fare hikes.  To date, Albany leaders have yet to agree to a workable plan to prevent pending fare increases and service cuts.
