Brave New Films Launches Effort to Fight Back Against Conservative Witch Hunts on Organizations Singled Out for Their Work with Poor Communities
Culver City-Brave New Films is pushing to get Congress to vote against extending the Defund ACORN Act. The House is expected to take up this vote sometime this week, with the Senate to follow in the upcoming month. Extending the Defund ACORN Act would essentially deprive ACORN of most of the funding currently used on voting rights, housing, minimum wage reform, and unemployment.
As part of its efforts, Brave New Films has come out to stand with ACORN by releasing a new video, "ACORN Under Attack." The video asks viewers to call Congress and ask that they vote against extending the Defund ACORN Act.

Fox News and its television personalities, including Glenn Beck, are pushing an agenda that is to the detriment of low income and working communities. The effort to single out ACORN by Fox News' political pundits is no coincidence.
"We are not going to stand idly by while the conservative right systematically attacks organizations such as ACORN who, over the years, have done a great deal to help low income and underserved communities. These right wing attacks border on McCarthyism. We are urging Congress not to join Glenn Beck's witch hunt, and vote against the continuing resolution to defund ACORN." Robert Greenwald, Founder and Director of Brave New Films
"The work that ACORN is doing in the community is really parallel to the agenda that Jesus laid out in his ministry-to give visibility and give voice to those who have so many financial and demographic challenges." Reverend Liana Rowe of United Church of Christ in Phoenix, Arizona
