Award Winning Playwright Shines in Jim Jones' off-Broadway Play

Wednesday, March 25, 2009 (New York, NY) -- Hip Hop Monologues: The Life & Mind and Jim Jones is a show that makes history by promoting the release of a rap album with an off-Broadway play. Pray IV Reign is Jim Jones' latest release, and up and comiJim Jones Flyerng starlet, Setor Attipoe, shines brightly in Hip Hop Monologues.

Setor Attipoe is a different kind of triple threat. As an Actress, Playwright and Producer, Attipoe is building a well-rounded career that ensures success. During the day Attipoe runs her own production company, Lamb To A Lion Productions between rehearsals and performances. The African Sun Times have called her "a daring and astonishing playwright", and her current production, "Love, Life & Redemption (and everything in between)" is not only touring national universities, it's also an award-winning production. color hs

A recent winner of the much sought after New York City Department of Cultural Affairs artist grant award, Attipoe is using her grant award to give back to Brooklyn by producing "Love, Life & Redemption" in an under-served community in Bed Stuy. The YMCA of Bed Stuy is sponsoring space for the performance and the event is scheduled for July 15th, 2009.

Setor opens Hip Hop Monologues along with singer, Starr, and continues to show the audience a broad range as an Actress, playing multiple characters. As a British reporter, she arrives at a crime scene after a shootout between rapper Camron, Jim Jones, and their associates. As Jim Jones and Setor Attsetor and jimipoe reincarnate a version of the dog and cat chase we remember from Michael Jackson's The Way You Make Me Feel, Attipoe is a stand-out among the sea of beauties in the show.

Hip Hop Monologues is written, directed and produced by Jay Kyle Manzay. The hour and a half show is playing now until Saturday, March 28th at 37 Arts Theater at 450 West 37th Street (between 9th and 10th Avenues). Show times are at 8pm March 24th thru March 27th and 7pm & 10pm on Saturday, March 28th.

Attipoe has also starred in the off-Broadway hit Platanos n' Collard Greens and her own play, "Love, Life & Redemption" brands a new genre of theater: The Theatrical Poetry Performance. "Love, Life & Redemption" takes audiences on the journey of the life of Carolyn Bowers, through 15 short stories that emerge when Carolyn falls asleep and her bookof poetry wakes up and comes to life. "Love, Life & Redemption" has been called "undeniably engaging and heartfelt" by newspapers.
