Basketball Camp Yields Life Lessons For At Risk Inner-City Youth

Los Angeles, CA  -- Businessman, music mogul, and philanthropist Percy Miller aka Master P along with his multi talented son Romeo will sponsor over a thousand kids ages 7-16 for a free basketball camp alongside NBA star Rashad McCants and Urban Born founder Johnel Langerston with special guests Magic Johnson and Mark Jackson. P. Miller is combining entertainment, sports and education to teach life lessons to the at-risk youth to be more than entertainers and athletes, emphasizing the importance of an education, being leaders, saying no to drugs and gangs which makes the Game of Life Basketball Camp like no other.

These campers will not only learn defense and offense on the basketball court but will be spending some of the time in the classroom with life coaches learning valuable life lessons from true testimonies. "This will be an experience that these kids will remember for the rest of their lives. My basketball coach help save my life, hopefully I can do the same for this generation," says P. Miller. This free camp will begin Saturday, June 26, 8 AM at Pasadena High School.

"The purpose of the camp is to allow children to have the opportunity to exercise their bodies and their minds. It is important to us to share with the youth that they can do both. We totally support what our first lady Michelle Obama is doing with her efforts in fighting obesity. This is just our way of doing our part," says Miller. We try and spread the word of education and the message that just because you come from a low-income community it doesn't mean you can't strive to be better. We are hoping that with our camps we can inspire these kids to have vision, follow their dreams and believe in themselves. They need to know that education is essential and that they do have options," says Romeo.

P. Miller and Romeo have invited other celebrity guest to participate in a celebrity basketball game that will take place June 26th, 4pm at Pasadena High School. Other artists who have committed are, Megan Good, Joe Torre, Ray J, Anthony Anderson, Al Harrington, Jalen Rose, Demar DeRozan, and James Harden to name a few.

The mission of the Urban Born Foundation is to raise funds, create awareness for the lack of education that destroys the lives of inner city youth. By engaging the people, community leaders, celebrities and pro-athletes, financial support is given to the development of Urban Born youth centers and after school programs.

Urban Born is a 501 (c)(3) that helps at risk youth and teens in helping to promote education and healthy living without drugs and gangs. Urban Born helps to support at risk youth throughout the country with a concentration in Los Angeles as well as to help "bridge the gap between Black and Brown" by promoting peace within the African American and Latino communities.
