Business Leader Earl W. Stafford Elected to Joint Center Board of Governors

WASHINGTON - The Joint Center for Political and Economic Studies, one of the nation’s leading research and public policy institutions, today announced the election of Northern Virginia businessman Earl W. Stafford to its Board of Governors.

Mr. Stafford is the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of The Stafford Foundation, Inc., which he founded in 2002 to provide  support and assistance to the underserved, marginalized and socially and economically distressed.  The foundation recently organized and funded the much-acclaimed “People’s Inaugural Project” that brought hundreds of disadvantaged persons to Washington to witness and participate in the inauguration of President Obama.

“Earl Stafford’s business acumen, and his determination to use his own financial success to help those in need, will be of enormous benefit to the Joint Center as we continue to build on our strengths and work to make America a better place for all its citizens,” said Ralph B. Everett, President and CEO of the Joint Center.

Mr. Stafford is the Chief Executive Officer of The Wentworth Group LLC, a Reston, Virginia-based holding company that provides financial and business support services to small businesses that offer services and products in the federal market. Mr. Stafford’s experience as the former Chairman and Chief Executive of UNITECH, an award winning training and simulation technology solutions company headquartered in Northern Virginia, positions him well to offer support and consulting services to the small business community.

Before entering the corporate world, Mr. Stafford had a distinguished career in the U.S. military that included service as the Assistant Air Force Liaison Officer to the Federal Aviation Administration.
