Governor of New Mexico Meets with Spanish Leader to Discuss 400 Year Anniversary of Santa Fe

 

 

SANTA FE – New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson met today with Bernardino Leon, the Secretary General at the Presidency of the Government of Spain, to discuss Spanish investment in New Mexico and the upcoming 400th anniversary of Santa Fe.

 

Secretary General Leon met with Governor Richardson at the Governor’s Residence in Santa Fe. They discussed issues of common interest in the relationship between New Mexico and Spain, including investments from Spanish companies in New Mexico, in particular in the field of renewable energies, science and technology, culture and heritage.

 

The Secretary General reassured the Governor that Spain will support New Mexico as it prepares to celebrate the 400th anniversary of Santa Fe. He told the Governor that prominent officials from Spain will travel in the coming months to Santa Fe.

 

The President of the Spanish State Society of Cultural Events will travel to Santa Fe to work out a common cultural agenda for the anniversary celebration, comprising of exhibitions, concerts, seminars and any other cultural event of mutual interest.
