As Congress prepares to fly home for a crucial Memorial Day recess…
SEIU Secretary-Treasurer Anna Burger to Detail Union’s National Efforts to Ensure Congress Passes ‘Change That Works’
Includes updates on healthcare reform, Employee Free Choice Act, economic recovery efforts and others
WASHINGTON, DC – Earlier this year, SEIU’s 2-million members launched ‘Change That Works,’ an intensive state-by-state campaign focused on ensuring Senators and Representatives keep their campaign promises and pass the change voters demanded at the ballot box. Focused on immediate economic relief and recovery efforts, fixing our broken healthcare system, passing the Employee Free Choice Act and comprehensive immigration reform, this Memorial Day recess will provide a crucial opportunity for Members to hear from voters on how these issues impact their lives.
The briefing comes on the heels of a game-changing announcement by SEIU and leading health provider groups to cut healthcare costs by $2 trillion in 10 years, an outpouring of support for the Employee Free Choice Act by faith leaders across the country and a new poll of voters reinforcing that comprehensive immigration reform should be a priority this year.
