Hispanic Federation Hosts Benefit Tonight

WHO:     Tonight, celebrities, community and government leaders, along with top business executives, will gather for the premier Latino event in the Northeast: theHispanic Federation’s Annual Gala. A Platinum Celebration, as this year’s event is being recognized, will highlight the Federation’s 20 years of service and advocacy on behalf of the Latino community.  Hosted by Tony & Grammy award-winning creator & composer of hit Broadway musical In The HeightsLin-Manuel Miranda, the event will pay tribute to four Latino trailblazers including Miranda’s father Luis A. Miranda, Jr., founding president of the Hispanic Federation; Nina García, the New York Times Best-Selling author and judge on hit show Project Runway; Angel Sánchez, world-renowned Latin American fashion designer; and Willie Colón, internationally acclaimed recording artist and humanitarian. State Farm will receive the Corporate Leadership Award while Project Runway Co-Host Tim Gunn will be making a special presentation.  The evening concludes with a performance by Willie Colón.  Other special guests include High School Musical star and current cast member of In the HeightsCorbin Bleu.

 
 Also scheduled to attend are US Senator Charles Schumer, NYS Governor David A. Paterson, NYS Comptroller Thomas P. DiNapoli, NYC Comptroller John C. Liu, NYC Public Advocate Bill de Blasio, and NYC Council Speaker Christine C. Quinn, among many other members of the NYS Senate and Assembly and NYC City Council.
