Welcome to My Life My Soul!

Happy Women's History Month!  My Life My Soul is involved in a lot of activities this month spreading the word and speaking out against domestic violence and abuse.

First, I would like to take a moment to dedicate this months' newsletter to my twin daughter, Samantha Michelle.  March 4, 2009, marks the 21st anniversary of her death, caused by a violent assault on me while I was 6.5 months pregnant and March 5 marks the day that she was buried. As a mother, I can honestly say that this is a wound that time has not healed. It was because of her death that I have become so outspoken on domestic violence and abuse and founded My Life My Soul.

Please see below for what My Life My Soul will be doing this month!
Saturday, March 7 from 9 am to 11 am
My Life My Soul Radio Show with special guest Dr. Elena Sterling Bascom, domestic violence survivor and author of The Survivor Series, Stories of Women Who Survived the Impossible!
Elena Sterling was born in Colon, Republic of Panama on February 7, 1945 to Theodosia and Vincent Sterling. Elena grew up the eldest of twelve children in a single parent home. At an early age, she embraced her gift to help by assisting her mother with her siblings whenever possible.
Despite hunger, homelessness and molestation, Elena completed high school in Panama, and continued to help her family as she sought a better life.

At the age of 25, Ms. Sterling left her birthplace with only $300 dollars and migrated to the United States.U pon her arrival in New York City, she met and married Mr. George Bascom. Out of their union came a son, Edward A. Bascom.
Unfortunately, within a short space of time, mental and physical abuse caused the marriage to deteriorate. In the midst of her disappointment and despair over the divorce, Elena Bascom persevered.
