National Black Caucus of State Legislators To Host
Joint Broadband Summit in Ft. Lauderdale
Minority broadband report to be released at meeting to call for increased access and adoption

What:

The National Black Caucus of State Legislators will be holding a Joint Broadband Summit in conjunction with its 33rd Annual Legislative Conference. Topics to be covered range from "The Future of Broadband" to "The Imperatives of Broadband Adoption and Usage for Minority Communities." 

Additionally, the Joint Center for Political and Economic Studies and The Hispanic Institute will be releasing a study at the Summit entitled "The Minority Broadband Report."  The study calls the broadband status quo "unacceptable" for communities of color and includes a set of policy recommendations for spreading high-speed Internet service to every American.

NBCSL has a rich history spanning over 30 years, and currently consists of 624 state legislators who are committed to opening doors and educating its membership on important policy concerns. Annually, NBCSL holds symposia on issues ranging from health disparities to housing, and has recently begun exploring ways in which advanced communication technologies can be used to leverage and uplift underserved. NBCSL is actively engaged in the implementation of policies to protect and benefit all Americans.
