New Census Ad Campaign Launched Targets Hispanic Population

Behind the Scenes Look at the Latino 'Mosaic'

    NEW YORK,

Background: GlobalHue Latino, the nation's largest multicultural
advertising agency, will be photographing one of its print and
outdoor advertisements for the 2010 U.S. Census targeted at
the Hispanic population. The advertising campaign is critical
to Census' efforts to reach the traditionally "hard to count",
                which includes many Hispanics.

The U.S. Constitution mandates a decennial count of all people
                residing within the United States.

Who: Mageline Concepcion, Account Supervisor, GlobalHue Latino
Felipe Godinez, Associate Creative Director, GlobalHue Latino

What: Be behind the scenes and interview major players as a
Spanish-language print and outdoor advertisement for the 2010
U.S. Census is produced. The ad will be part of the overall
integrated marketing plan, culminating in the mailing of
Census forms in April 2010. A mural representing Hispanics
from all walks of life will be painted on an outside wall of a
bodega in El Barrio in Spanish Harlem, photographed for the
print and outdoor ad, and left in place for the duration of
                the Census ad campaign.

"Mural" conveys the theme, to be repeated in television
advertisements, of the many ways Hispanic pride is expressed,
including filling out the Census form in order to be counted.

A visual of the Census form will be visible and the following
copy will be inscribed on the upper left hand corner of the
                mural -

Tu comunidad te necesita. Your community needs you.

Pagado por la Oficina del Censo de los Estados Unidos
Paid for by U.S. Census Bureau

    When: Tuesday, December 8, 2009
                11:00 am to 4:00 pm

Where: 117th Street and 3rd Avenue, Spanish Harlem

Why: The importance of an accurate Census count cannot be
overemphasized, especially for the Hispanic population.
Public and private sectors along with the media must come
together to encourage everyone to be counted.
