Oral Roberts University Signs Agreement With the National Hispanic Christian Leadership Conference

Tulsa, Okla. – Oral Roberts University (ORU) has signed an agreement with the National Hispanic Christian Leadership Conference (NHCLC) that will position ORU as the exclusive educational strategic partner for the NHCLC. This agreement will make ORU the only college or university with this relationship.

“Oral Roberts University historically stands as the ‘Flagship’ for Spirit-filled, Charismatic Christian higher learning. As the premier university in the world for the Spirit-filled community, today, the fastest growing religious demographic in America but also in Africa and Latin America, ORU stands poised to lead in equipping and preparing the Christian Spirit-filled leaders of the 21st century,” said Reverend Samuel Rodriguez, president of the NHCLC. “For that matter, the National Hispanic Christian Leadership Conference, the Hispanic National Association of Evangelicals, in addition to the Hispanic Mega Church Association, The National Hispanic Pentecostal Congress, and the Jesse Miranda Center for Hispanic Christian Leadership, hereby recognize ORU as the School of Choice for the Hispanic Spirit-filled community and endorse the university as the premier learning institution for the over 20 million Hispanics that according to Pew Research, embrace the Charismatic, Spirit Filled Christian experience,” said Rodriguez.

ORU will also appear as the exclusive education partner in the NHCLC’s national campaign to lower the Latino high school dropout rate and in their national campaign for Latino Christian higher education.

As part of the agreement, ORU will establish the Jesse Miranda Center as a welcoming place for students from the Hispanic community. This center will be a model for universities around the nation in providing resources to assist this rapidly growing community. It will serve as a recruitment center, fellowship hall for Latino students, and research and development wing for Next Generation Hispanic Spirit-filled programs.

“The Hispanic community is a vital piece of the fabric of this country and the world. This agreement shows ORU’s commitment to this community and will give the NHCLC

churches a sensitive and energetic place to point Hispanic high school graduates,” said Dr. Mark Rutland, president of ORU.

“This agreement will help position ORU to strategically reach this new market. This is just another demonstrable step in the aggressive growth plan of the university,” said Rutland.

The National Hispanic Christian Leadership Conference (NHCLC) is the National Hispanic Association of Evangelicals. As America's largest Hispanic Christian organization with 25,434 churches serving a community approximately 16 million strong, NHCLC exists to facilitate a unified Evangelical voice, mobilize the Hispanic Church and provide leadership, fellowship, networking, partnerships and advocacy via its seven Directives that include: Life, Family, Great Commission, Stewardship, Justice, Youth and Education. As the sister organization of the National Association of Evangelicals, the NHCLC stands recognized by major media, scholars, governmental and ecclesiastical authorities as the Premier Hispanic Faith Organization in America.

Oral Roberts University is an interdenominational Christian liberal arts university located in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Founded in 1963 by evangelist Oral Roberts, ORU serves students from throughout the U.S. and over 60 countries, representing 40 denominations. Offering 65 undergraduate majors, 14 master’s programs and two doctoral degrees, plus NCAA Division I athletics, ORU is preparing its students spiritually, mentally, and physically to go into every person’s world.
