NAELA Supports Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month

NAELA Supports Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month

NAELA supports Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month this March.

PR Newswire

WASHINGTON, Feb. 24, 2020 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- The National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (NAELA) supports Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month this March.

The National Association of Councils on Developmental Disabilities (NACDD), the Association of University Centers on Disabilities (AUCD), and the National Disability Rights Network (NDRN) co-sponsor this annual event using social media to raise awareness about developmental disabilities in all areas of community life, and raise awareness to the barriers that people with disabilities still sometimes face.

"In 2020, one of NAELA's top public policy priorities is to expand home and community-based services, ending Medicaid's institutional bias for individuals with disabilities and older Americans. NAELA continues to work with its coalition partners to advocate key policy changes, such as Money Follows the Person and the requirement that states apply spousal impoverishment protections to Medicaid HCBS waivers," said NAELA President Jennifer L. VanderVeen, CELA, CAP, NAELA Fellow.
