Los Angeles Women's Non-profit, Visionary Women, To Honor Jane Fonda At Third Annual International Women's Day Event

Event to Unveil Visionary Women's Newly Launched Chara Schreyer Arts Initiative, a Campaign Supporting and Highlighting Issues Affecting Women Through Art

PR Newswire

LOS ANGELES, Feb. 24, 2020 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- In celebration of International Women's Day, Visionary Women, a Los Angeles-based nonprofit organization focused on the empowerment of women, will honor award-winning actress, producer, author and activist Jane Fonda with the Visionary Activist award for her incredible lifetime of activism and outreach. Fonda will be accepting this award on March 5, 2020 at Visionary Women's third annual International Women's Day event in Beverly Hills. Tickets to this special night are open to Visionary Women members and non-members.

"We can't imagine anyone better to celebrate this year's International Women's Day other than the iconic Jane Fonda," said Angella Nazarian, author, philanthropist and co-founder of Visionary Women. "Jane is a living legend and we're so honored to be celebrating her achievements and legacy, from her extensive resume of empowering films to her life of activism and work far beyond the screen."

Visionary Women recognizes powerful women leaders who provide opportunities and support for women and girls around the world. Throughout her career, Fonda has used her celebrity to raise awareness about various notable causes including the civil rights movement, female empowerment, anti-war efforts, and most recently climate change with her Fire Drill Fridays protests.

Visionary Women is also proud to announce the inauguration of The Chara Schreyer Arts Initiative in collaboration with illustrious art collector and philanthropist, Chara Schreyer. The Chara Schreyer Arts Initiative is a first for Visionary Women and will use art as a tool for communication, to activate social issues, and serve as a vehicle for change. Targeting issues that address parity and equality for women, The Chara Schreyer Arts Initiative will challenge convention, inspire dialogue on a range of social issues and unite women across all spheres of society.

The launch of the annual campaign will debut at Visionary Women's International Women's Day event with the work of Los Angeles-based artist Rosha Yaghmai, curated by Hammer Art Museum's Erin Christovale. Yaghmai will unveil a thought-provoking life cast sculpture as part of an interactive art experience allowing guests the rare opportunity to interact with Yaghmai and participate in the creation of the powerful art piece by leaving hand impressions made to be incorporated into the sculpture. The work will reflect the diverse voices of women and how women can unite together.

Following the event, Yaghmai's art piece will be placed on display in a public space to activate a greater discussion on the topic of womanhood, vulnerability, and hope by the community and beyond. Ultimately, Yaghmai's work will be sold with proceeds supporting homeless women at Los Angeles' Downtown Women's Center.

To commemorate Visionary Women's third annual International Women's Day event, a unique Visionary Women Instagram filter will go live the day of engaging women across the nation and beyond with the question, "What is your vision for women and girls?" Sparked by Pussy Hat Project creator and Visionary Women ambassador Jayna Zweiman, users will be able to post a filtered photo or video with a personal message using the hashtag #VisionaryWomen as a way to express themselves and create awareness for the kind of world women envision for the future.

Visionary Women's third annual International Women's Day event will be held on March 5, 2020 at Studio at Beverly Hills (407 North Maple Drive, Beverly Hills, CA 90210) from 7:00PM-11:00PM PT. Tickets are available for $70 General Admission and $50 for guests age 35 and younger. Sponsored by Maurice and Paul Marciano, the event will feature a DJ, Debbie Allen Dance Troupe, cocktails and passed hors d'oeuvres.
