Women in Construction (WIC) Week Highlights Expanding Opportunities for Women in the Construction Industry

The OSHA Training Institute Education Center at Chabot-Las Positas Community College District announces WIC Week to spotlight women's growing role in construction.

PR Newswire

DUBLIN, Calif., Feb. 27, 2020 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- The OSHA Training Institute Education Center at Chabot-Las Positas Community College District, the only OSHA authorized OTI Education Center headquartered in Northern California, is commemorating Women in Construction (WIC) Week on March 1-7, 2020, to help raise awareness of the growing role and expanding opportunities for women in the construction industry. The National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC) is sponsoring WIC Week to advance its mission to strengthen and amplify the success of women in construction.

"Women in Construction Week provides an opportunity to acknowledge the women who make a significant contribution to the growth and success of the construction industry," says Cari Elofson-Callahan, Assistant Director of the OSHA Training Institute Education Center at Chabot-Las Positas Community College District. "This annual event also offers a forum to encourage more girls and women to consider a career in construction."

Thousands of NAWIC members across the US will engage in a variety of community outreach activities to provide information and resources highlighting the opportunities for women in the field of construction, including jobsite tours, membership drives, community service projects, children's activities, hands-on workshops, fundraisers, school programs and career days.

For information, resources and ideas on how to participate in the 2020 Women in Construction Week, visit the WIC Week Resources webpage.
