Healthline Announces Non-Partisan 2020 Voting Guide on Healthcare Policy

SAN FRANCISCO , February 27 /Businesswire/ - Healthline.com, the flagship digital health information site of Healthline Media, today released a 2020 voting guide to help Americans understand the healthcare proposals of each Democratic presidential candidate. This is the first voting guide ever to be focused solely on healthcare policy.

The guide, along with election coverage and continuous updates, will be available to anyone at www.healthline.com through Election Day 2020.

“Our mission is to create a stronger, healthier world,” said Healthline Media President and CEO David Kopp. “As the number one digital health publisher in the United States, we felt it’s our duty and privilege to provide Americans with evidence-based, clear, unbiased information on how the 2020 presidential election will potentially impact their access to affordable, comprehensive healthcare.”

About the Healthline Media 2020 Voting Guide on Healthcare

Currently, all the Democratic candidates are proposing some level of free or affordable coverage for all Americans and expanding consumer protections, but most are opaque on how they will actually fund an expansion of coverage, and most experts agree that some level of middle-income tax increases is inevitable. All of the proposals aim to eliminate or reduce out-of-pocket costs and “surprise” medical bills.

For the early stages of the 2020 Democratic primary process, Healthline will evaluate each candidate's published healthcare policy proposals against a set of criteria and topics that are top of mind with voters, Millennials in particular.

The voting guide initiative was led by the Healthline news team and takes into consideration:

  • Healthcare policy proposals published on each candidate's official website
  • The evaluations of an independent panel of health policy experts
  • Healthline audience demographic data, third-party research, and organic search trends on relevant topics

“We created our voter guide with Millennials in mind and the health issues they care most about, but American voters of all ages will find it useful,” added Robert Hanson, Editorial Director of News and Features at Healthline Media. “For example, our continued coverage of this election cycle will drill down into how different policies could affect women’s health, chronic disease management, mental health, substance abuse, and many other topics.”
