Children's Minnesota joins "A World of Hearts" movement

PR Newswire

MINNEAPOLIS, March 31, 2020 /PRNewswire/ -- Amid the uncertainty surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic, Children's Minnesota and its patients have joined the "A World of Hearts" movement to inspire hope. The Child Life team worked with patients to cut out hearts and place them in windows at the Children's Minnesota hospitals in St. Paul and Minneapolis.

"It's amazing to see how simple paper cutouts can provide the hope so many of us need at the moment," said Joy Johnson-Lind, senior director of Child & Family Services at Children's Minnesota. "Kids are the most amazing people on earth and we embrace their optimism during times like these."

The hearts can be seen in the windows of patient rooms and skyways at both Children's Minnesota hospitals. Staff members also wrote inspirational chalk art messages at the entrance.

The "A World of Hearts" movement began circulating on social media in late March, as the COVID-19 pandemic was escalating in the United States. People have been using the paper hearts to show appreciation for essential workers and as a way to bring people together online.
