Love Your Melon Provides 50K Cotton Fabric Face Masks Made In The USA For Children & Families

Masks will be distributed to children's hospitals, care facilities, and nonprofit organizations across the nation in an effort to combat the spread of COVID-19

PR Newswire

MINNEAPOLIS, March 31, 2020 /PRNewswire/ -- Love Your Melon, a mission-driven apparel brand that gives fifty percent of net profits to nonprofit organizations that lead the fight against pediatric cancer, announced it is creating 50,000 cotton fabric face masks to help children battling cancer and their families during the outbreak of COVID-19.

The D2C apparel brand is leveraging its domestic manufacturing network in the United States to create machine washable and reusable face masks. The masks will come in kids and adult sizes and serve as an additional line of defense to COVID-19 and protection from droplets. These will be donated directly to children's hospitals, care facilities and nonprofit organizations across the country to children battling cancer and their families.

Image assets can be found here and video footage of the masks being manufactured here.

"As this crisis developed, we knew we had to step in and do our part for children battling cancer. The fight against pediatric cancer has not stopped since the COVID-19 outbreak and these patients and families need our support now more than ever," said Zachary Quinn, Co-Founder of Love Your Melon. "50k masks is just the beginning. We are continuing to monitor the situation and will leverage every resource possible to ensure we are continuing to support those who are at the highest risk."

Team members at children's hospitals, care facilities, or nonprofit organizations across the nation working with children battling cancer and their families can visit this link to request masks.

To make this possible, Love Your Melon partnered with Maine Heritage Weavers, Softline Brand Partners, Bluegrass, Authenticity50, Carr Textile and Minnesota Knitting Mills.

Currently hospitals are only accepting cotton masks for patients. If things change and these masks or any other items are needed by frontline health care providers, the company will transition the program to get them to where they are needed most.

Love Your Melon also started shipping care packages around the U.S. to pediatric patients. Items include superhero costumes, LEGO kits, coloring books and fun activities. As an additional resource, the company curated a Parent and Family Resources page on their website which includes virtual educational programs, apps and programs to help parents provide their children with engaging and interactive activities during this time.

Love Your Melon plans to continue leveraging its partners in the coming weeks to create additional resources for children and families during this time of crisis. Plans and updates will be announced as they go live.

Since its inception in 2012, Love Your Melon has given over 191,000 beanies to children battling cancer and over $7.1 million to nonprofits in support of the fight against pediatric cancer.
