PR Newswire

SINGAPORE, July 9, 2020 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Likee, a pioneering global short video creation and sharing platform as well as a famous video making app, today announced millions of its users are creating and sharing content to show support and bring awareness to the Black Lives Matter movement.

Likee users have adopted the hashtag #BLM and uploaded over 200K videos in support of the movement with the hashtag that is an acronym for Black Lives Matter and video playbacks are approaching 12 million.

With hundreds of millions of users, short form creative video apps have become a hub for creative expression. While some platforms have not been able to support the use of #blacklivesmatter, Likee has become an outlet for creative expression around the hashtag.

Likee user, TenaciousTeddyG has been extremely active and influential in the movement taking place on the platform and recently stated, "We can support the Black Lives Matter movement by educating ourselves, and sharing our perspectives that unite and empower people to be heard. It's inspiring to see the power in creativity that people are embracing to promote positive awareness to equality."

JoselynV, another Likee user that has shown tremendous support for the movement stated, "Education is key to change. Likee provides a powerful platform for sharing educational videos and content that helps to support the Black Lives Matter movement."

Commenting on the news, Charles, a US spokesperson for Likee, states, "Likee was built to be an open, inclusive platform for free expression where people can be authentic and true to themselves. The outpouring of support for the Black Lives Matter movement is growing not just on our network but all over the world. We strongly believe that the creativity and unity demonstrated in our users' videos are helping to make positive strides towards educating others."

Likee is the fourth-most downloaded video app in the world, behind Facebook and Instagram. Offering short-form (15-second) videos – recorded and live-streamed – Likee is at the forefront of a revolution in how people consume and interact with content. Driven by its superior video creation suite, advanced Artificial Intelligence-based curation and 4D effects, extensive music library and over 1000 video effects including beauty and video filters and stickers, Likee has seen explosive growth since its launch in late 2017.
