Semper Cares Initiative Honors Esteemed Veteran With the Gift of Solar Power

Local and Veteran Owned Semper Solaris donates to deserving veteran, David Smith.

PR Newswire

SAN DIEGO, July 31, 2020 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Semper Solaris is a veteran-owned and operated Solar Power company built on core military values, including selfless service and personal courage. We are committed to extending these values into the community with a tradition of giving back to our veterans through our Semper Cares initiative.

We are proud to announce the new Semper Cares recipient, Marine Corps Veteran, David Smith, and award him with a free solar power system installed at no cost by Semper Solaris. We are moved by David's story, his bravery, ambition, and determination to overcome adversity.

David served in Afganistan where he sustained injuries in June of 2010 when the military vehicle he was walking beside hit an IED. Suffering damage to his right leg, internal bleeding, and a severe traumatic brain injury, he sustained speech and mobility impairments and faced a hard road to recovery.

He tackled his rehabilitation with courage and determination, relearning how to walk while facing speech pattern difficulties caused by his brain trauma. He was determined to overcome his limitations and pursue his education despite the many challenges that lay ahead.

With first-hand knowledge and unique insight from his own life experience, he centered his thesis on traumatic brain injuries. David graduated from the University of North Texas and furthering his research; brought a credible voice to his field by publishing several papers on potential modalities for the future study of traumatic brain injuries.

The Semper Cares Initiative Is born out of a deep connection to and respect for our nation's military. We want to honor the men and women who, like David Smith, have sacrificed for our freedom. The purpose of Semper Cares Initiative is to help deserving veterans and their families make significant home improvements and offer free solar power installations.

We are giving back to veterans by providing relief from high energy costs and helping them and their families achieve energy independence. With the support of the community, national charities, and our generous suppliers Owens Corning, LG, SolarWorld, SolarEdge and others, we have received tens of thousands of dollars for our missions and a commitment to the support of future projects.

This generosity has made the vision of Semper Solaris' founders Kelly Shawhan and John Almond a reality for many deserving veterans and their families. With a focus on military/humanitarian traditions, it is our hope that this effort to help veterans will continue to grow for many years to come.

We are privileged to honor David Smith's service by awarding him with the solar power system from LG and Solaredge. We would love to hear from the community in searching out our deserving heroes.

Perhaps you know of a veteran who could benefit from receiving the gift of going solar. Please check out our past missions, and join us by nominating a brave warrior for our next mission. Let Semper Solaris tell their story and make a difference in their lives.
