LONDON, Aug. 12, 2020 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Natalie Carter, a senior associate in the London office of global law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP, has been selected as a finalist for the 2020 Black British Business Awards. She is nominated as a Professional Services Rising Star.

BBBAwards honours outstanding business talent in six industry categories: arts & media, consumer & luxury, entrepreneur, financial services, professional services, and STEM. BBBAwards selected its finalists for their outstanding personal and professional achievements, particularly in light of the COVID-19 pandemic and the resurgence of the Black Lives Matter movement.

Carter is heavily involved with various charities and organizations within the legal industry that aim to improve diversity in law. She mentors young Black women applying for training contracts and has participated as mentor for the Legal Launch Pad program run by the Black Lawyer's Directory, which seeks to help minority students trying to enter into the legal industry. Carter also volunteered with Urban Lawyers and designed the first full-day conference for ethnic minority students pursuing a career in law in London.

Carter has held a number of leadership positions in various organizations, including serving as director of legal initiative at the Women in the City African and Caribbean Network, an organisation which is dedicated to the personal and professional development of black women. She was also a founding committee member of Black Solicitors Network Junior Lawyers Division, which focuses on improving the retention and progression of black solicitors in the legal profession.

In addition to her work in the legal world, Carter is also an active member of her community.

She is co-founder of Black Girls Book Club, which is a book club that creates a safe space for Black women to bond over a love of literature. Since its inception in 2016, Black Girls Book Club has hosted over 50 events, which have been attended by over 2,000 women, and has also been featured in The Stylist, BET, The Metro, BBC Radio London, and Pride Magazine. Carter is also a trustee of the Creative Land Trust, which helps secure long term, affordable space for artist and creatives in London.

Winners for each category, as well as the Black British Business Person of the Year, will be revealed at the Black British Business Awards Digital Ceremony taking place on 2 October 2020.
