Christian Youth Deliver Goodwill to Elderly Communities Amid COVID-19

The Franciscan Boys Home in Bethlehem provides humanitarian support against all odds. Father Peter F. Vasko, OFM shares the invaluable impact that the Franciscan Boys Home has on the Holy Land youth suffering from hardships; and how the Home has played an integral part in meeting basic human needs, along with supporting the community during the COVID-19 pandemic crisis.

BETHLEHEM, Palestine, Sept. 16, 2020 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Located in Bethlehem, the Franciscan Boys Home is one of many social services run through the Franciscan Custody of the Holy Land. The Home, founded in 2007 as an affiliate to Terra Sancta College, seeks to open a new window of hope and a lifeline to a brighter future to boys ages 6-18 years old. The Home is a caring place where community youth who are victims of abuse and neglect can feel safe and cared for. During this pandemic, the Boys Home helped alleviate the burden of its neighbors in Jerusalem and Bethlehem who contracted the virus, the elderly who were unable to leave their homes, and others forced to quarantine by providing essential food supplies. The Boys Home delivered boxes of basic necessities such as water, milk, bread, eggs, canned tuna and chicken to people's doorsteps. Fr. Peter expresses, "the Boys Home is not just a place where you live, but a place where you are understood." Fr. Peter is available to speak about COVID-19 in the Holy Land, its effect on the Boys Home and the importance of funding that allows this critical humanitarian program to continue operating.

Contact FFHL to schedule an email interview with Fr. Peter F. Vasko, OFM, President of the Foundation about the community impact of the Boys Home and its specialized youth services.
