Home for the Holidays, Doctors Advise - Tips For Staying Safe and COVID-Free

ChenMed primary care physicians in 19 markets available for interviews.

PR Newswire

MIAMI, Nov. 23, 2020 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- As the number of coronavirus cases continue to rise across much of the country, ChenMed doctors are advising their patients, who are at-risk seniors, to stay home for Thanksgiving and the upcoming holidays.

"Thanksgiving is a blessing, but potentially a pitfall this year with the surge of coronavirus," said Gordon Chen, M.D., chief medical officer of ChenMed. "It's important not to let COVID fatigue set in and be lax about maintaining safety precautions to prevent spread of the virus. Our seniors are particularly vulnerable, and we want them to stay safe, healthy and happy at home."

Included in the recommendations ChenMed doctors are making to patients are to avoid large holiday gatherings and limit guests to those who live within your household. If anyone outside your household does come for a visit, everyone should wear a mask and stay six feet apart, the doctors say.

In addition, to help seniors remember ways to stay safe and prevent becoming infected with COVID-19, ChenMed doctors are using an acronym for HOME when discussing holiday plans with patients:

H – Handwashing. Wash often. Wash well. Soap up, scrub, rinse, dry.

O – Online. Consider spreading holiday cheer online this year by using calls, texts, video or social media to reach out to friends and family.

M – Mask up. Always wear a mask and stay socially-distant six feet away from others.

E – Essential travel only. If you don't need to travel this year, stay in to stay safe.

ChenMed Doctors are available at Chen, JenCare and Dedicated Senior Medical Centers in 19 U.S. markets for educational interviews about the importance of Staying HOME for the holidays: Atlanta, Bradenton, Chicago, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Columbus, Ft. Lauderdale, Jacksonville, Lakeland, Louisville, Memphis, Miami, New Orleans, Orlando, Palm Beach, Philadelphia, Richmond, St. Louis and Tidewater/Virginia Beach.
