U.S. Navy Memorial To Hold Live Wreath Laying Ceremony in Honor of POW and MIA Remembrance

The U.S. Navy Memorial will hold a live wreath laying ceremony in honor of those service people who have been held prisoner or war or missing in action on Friday, September 17th, at 1:00 PM ET.

WASHINGTON, Sept. 17, 2021 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- The U.S. Navy Memorial will hold a live wreath laying ceremony in honor of those service people who have been held prisoner or war or missing in action on Friday, September 17th, at 1:00 PM ET. The ceremony will be held both live and online, with guests in the national capital area invited to join the in-person ceremony at Navy Memorial Plaza.

A long-standing tradition for the Memorial, on the third Friday of September a wreath is lain in honor of Prisoners of War and missing service men and women. This hallowed event will be hosted by the Commandant of Naval District Washington, Rear Admiral Michael Steffan and remarks will be provided by Vietnam POW Author Taylor.

"It is vital that we remember those who have been lost or taken in the line of service," said retired Navy Rear Admiral Frank Thorp IV, President & CEO of the Navy Memorial. "Honoring these brave souls and praying for their swift return to home soil is a task for all Americans, and the U.S. Navy Memorial is proud to provide the opportunity for the public to do so."
