"We are humbled and excited to welcome these three extraordinary leaders to our Board of Directors," said Mary Beth Bruggeman, U.S. Marine Corps veteran and president of The Mission Continues, "As we continue to prioritize the diversity of our board members—including adding our first to represent the Alumni of The Mission Continues programs—they bring unmatched expertise and fresh perspectives to our team. We look forward to their contributions toward strengthening our veteran-led movement of service."

Rajiv Chandrasekaran, a former journalist and author, is currently the head of policy and strategy for the Emes Project LLC, a Seattle-based organization that incubates and supports innovative initiatives to create greater opportunity, accessible to all. A former senior correspondent and associate editor of The Washington Post, Chandrasekaran's global journalism career spans more than two decades. Among his best-selling authored book accomplishments are "For Love of Country: What Our Veterans Can Teach Us About Citizenship" and "Little America: The War Within the War for Afghanistan."

Fred Humphries is Corporate Vice President of U.S. Government Affairs for Microsoft Corporation. In this role, Humphries' leadership oversees policy, outreach, political engagement, and government affairs that helps advance the company's advocacy goals. With degrees from Temple University School of Law and Morehouse College, where he sits on the Board of Trustees, Humphries also proudly serves on many committees and boards, including the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation, the USTR Trade Advisory Committee on Africa, and the Greater Washington Goodwill, among others.

Captain Anthony Martinez is a retired U.S. Army officer, and founder and president of the American Veterans Mission (AVM). Martinez, a 2004 West Point graduate, served in the military for 15 years, including multiple tours in Iraq and Afghanistan. In 2015, Martinez was medically retired due to injuries sustained in support of Operation Enduring Freedom while serving as Commanding Officer of 220 soldiers in a combat theater in Afghanistan. About The Mission Continues:

The Mission Continues is a national veterans organization dedicated to empowering veterans as community-based leaders. We invest in veterans by equipping and training them to volunteer, mobilize and lead others in service. We deploy veteran volunteers in more than 40 cities nationwide alongside nonprofit partners and community leaders to improve educational resources, address food insecurity, increase access to parks and green spaces, foster neighborhood identity, and more.

Through this unique model, veterans are provided opportunities for personal connection and professional growth while generating visible community impact. This work is made possible through the generous contributions of our mission partners: A. James & Alice B. Clark Foundation, The Boeing Company, Lowe's, The Marcus Foundation, and Raytheon Technologies.
