SONIC Drive-In Calls on Fans Nationwide to Decide Which Public School Teachers Receive a Portion of $1 Million Donation in Class

OKLAHOMA CITY , September 27 /Businesswire/ - SONIC® Drive-In today announced the start of voting for the 13th annual Limeades for Learning Fall Voting campaign. In partnership with education nonprofit DonorsChoose, SONIC is committing $1 million to funding public school teacher projects across the country, and SONIC fans can determine which projects receive a portion of the brand’s weekly funding for learning materials by casting their vote on LimeadesForLearning.com.

“Last school year was especially challenging for teachers and students across the country as they navigated the shifts between virtual and in-person learning, and this year is shaping up to be just as taxing,” said Lori Abou Habib, chief marketing officer of SONIC Drive-In. “In a year when supporting public schools is more important than ever before, we hope our guests will once again join us in celebrating our teachers and rewarding them for their creativity and inspiration in the classroom. Since launching the Limeades for Learning program in 2009, we’ve been able to donate more than $19 million to support over 36,000 public school teachers, and we look forward to working with our guests to make even more of an impact this fall.”

By signing up on LimeadesForLearning.com, guests will unlock one free vote daily to support a teacher’s request of their choice. Guests can also earn extra votes for projects through a new mobile app integration: with every purchase made in the SONIC App or online, guests will receive one vote code on their e-receipt to redeem at LimeadesforLearning.com now through October 24. The teachers whose projects receive the most votes at the end of each week during the four-week voting period will receive funding for much-needed learning supplies.*

“As teachers are back in classrooms this year, many are having to adjust lesson plans to meet students’ individual learning needs resulting from inequitable access to resources during the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Charles Best, CEO and founder of DonorsChoose. “We are deeply grateful to once again partner with SONIC for the annual Limeades for Learning Fall Voting campaign, particularly at a time when it’s so important for students and teachers to have the resources they need for a strong start to the school year.”

*Projects receiving the most votes nationwide receive funding. Maximum funding per project is $600.
