Illinois HIV Care Connect Reaches Out to Spanish-Speaking Population on World AIDS Day

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. , December 01 /Businesswire/ - Illinois HIV Care Connect today reached out to the Illinois Spanish-speaking population by featuring two organizations that are representative of how Illinois helps this community to prevent and provide care for HIV.

The "Innovación en VIH" web and social media campaign showcases the Central Illinois Friends organization and Cicero's Corazón Community Services. More articles will be added in the coming months.

The "Innovación en VIH" campaign will be visible on Illinois HIV Care Connect's Twitter, Facebook and Instagram social media platforms. "Innovación en VIH" is Illinois HIV Care Connect's eighth annual quality improvement initiative, following programs on HIV stigma, HIV and youth, social determinants of health, HIV treatment as prevention, viral suppression, staying in HIV care, and HIV and mental health.

"HIV innovation is occurring among the Spanish-speaking population in Illinois," said Melvin Laureano, assistant director, HIV programs, and health equity advisor of the Illinois Public Health Association, which administers the Illinois HIV Care Connect program. "Central Illinois Friends, Corazon Community Services, and many other organizations are bringing the latest knowledge about HIV prevention and treatment to this community. We are proud to highlight their work on our website and social media platforms." Illinois HIV Care Connect is funded by the Illinois Department of Public Health.
