CurlyKids HairCare Joins 9 Story Media Group and Karma's World Entertainment on Licensing Deal with Icon Chris 'Ludacris' Bridges' Animated Series Karma's World

PR Newswire

Karma's World CurlyKids HairCare product assortment to hit stores nationwide this month

LOS ANGELES, Aug. 14, 2022 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Multimillion dollar Black-owned family-operated company CurlyKids HairCare is announcing a licensing partnership with 9 Story Media Group and Karma's World Entertainment for the acclaimed animated series Karma's World, inspired by Chris 'Ludacris' Bridges. The Black hair care company prominently known for creating products that cater to natural hair styles will be releasing Karma's World by CurlyKids detangling shampoo, detangling conditioner and a detangling spray at FAO Schwarz, Target, Walmart, Kroger and Sally Beauty stores later this month. The licensing deal was secured by 9 Story Brands, 9 Story's dedicated consumer products and brand management division.

"This is an exciting opportunity to be a part of something so important not only for Black media or entertainment, but also Black-centric animation and children's programming," said Charles Bordenave.

"I'm of course familiar with 'Luda', Mr. Bridges through his music and acting. But to see him pivot his influence and vision in this manner is especially near to my heart. As a girl dad myself, it is a gift to be living in a world where the landscape of kids' shows is becoming so diverse and changing for the better. And though my daughter is well out of the demographic range for Karma's World, she will always be my little girl, and as a family we will celebrate the show just the same."

"We are so excited to welcome CurlyKids to the Karma's World program," said Kyra Halperin, Co-VP, Consumer Products at 9 Story Brands. "Black-owned businesses have been historically underrepresented within the licensing industry and it's critical that we work with partners that align with the DNA of the brand, and achieve better representation on-shelf. We are thrilled to work with first-time licensee CurlyKids HairCare which has been inspiring Black children through representation to show their bold, beautiful and dynamic hair styles."

Bridges, the rapper, actor, producer, entrepreneur and philanthropist, was originally inspired to create the show by his oldest daughter. Karma's World, which premiered globally on Netflix on October 15, 2021, follows 10-year-old Karma Grant, an aspiring musical artist, and rapper with big talent and an even bigger heart. Every episode is infused with hip-hop music, streetwear fashion, and original choreography. The series focuses on themes of self-expression, identity, leadership, creativity, and the importance of community. A third season launched on July 7th. CurlyKids joins over 50 licensees on the brand across multiple categories, including global partnerships with Mattel, Scholastic and Universal Music Group.
