VKS Plays a Pivotal Role in CMP Winning Prestigious Innovative Manufacturing Award

MONTREAL , February 08 /Businesswire/ - CMP Advanced Mechanical Solutions, a long-time user of VKS digital work instructions, has received the prestigious Grand Mention with the Prix Performance Quebec (PPQ). CMP's innovative strategies and widespread use of work instruction software enable the forward-thinking company to pursue the best total quality practices, establishing them as true models of inspiration for manufacturing.

“We are proud to pay tribute to organizations that stand out by fully investing in a process of continuous improvement of their performance.” - Nadine Côté, President of the Board of Directors of the Mouvement Québécois de la qualité

CMP's systematic use of VKS in all operational processes greatly impressed the PPQ jury. In addition to work instructions, quality management, and training, CMP established an intelligent DMS where no less than 400 Gemba walks were performed each week. This number of inspections is made possible by using their work instruction software (VKS) to create detailed and visual audit procedures.

Data that is collected from the VKS audit procedures are automatically sent to CMP’s BI software (Tableau) where the raw data is transformed into dynamic KPIs. Using this data, CMP tracks and monitors the number of audits performed each week, where they were performed, and who performed them along with other insightful continuous improvement metrics.

Each week, leaders and managers review the compiled data and systematically create plans for improvement. The findings are also made completely transparent, enabling all personnel to accurately track performance by department and time, further inspiring and incentivizing employees to look out for continuous improvement opportunities that benefit the business and bring value to the customer.

As a winner of the PPQ, CMP is an inspiration to other businesses and leaders hoping to achieve the same levels of organization and visualization within their own establishments. At the Salon des Meilleures Pratiques d’Affaires (MPA), many spectators came to see VKS in action.

“One of the industry's big challenges is that while everyone is doing planned inspections and tours, not many are formalizing the process or capturing the right data. It's easy to simply go on a shop tour and ask “Is everything ok?”. But formalizing your plan from an EHS and quality standpoint leads to greater efficiency. At the event, a lot of people came to see us because our DMS was visually attractive. They could see the tablet, the KPIs, the visual execution of the Gemba walk, and a list of what needs to get done.” - Alain Prevost, Vice President of Continuous Improvement and Quality at CMP

VKS (Visual Knowledge Share) is a leading innovator in digital work instruction technology. Backed with over 50 years of experience from its parent company, VKS is a software platform designed for manufacturers by manufacturers. VKS work instructions solution has rapidly grown into an international company serving customers in over 30 countries around the world.
