As CSO, Welser will lead CityVet’s growth initiatives beyond general practice medicine and elevate the company’s clinical learning and development program. Furthermore, she will champion the innovation strategy within CityVet so it remains a preferred destination for clients and veterinarians. Her strategic plan will include introducing and driving awareness of CityVet’s unique veterinary ownership model and support system to new channels within the industry.

Prior to her new role at CityVet, Welser most recently served as Chief Medical Officer at Mars Veterinary Health. She also served clinically and in senior leadership at BluePearl Veterinary Partners and founded Veterinary Eye Specialists, to name a few previous roles. She serves on the board for the Veterinary Innovation Council and is the current Vice Chair. Welser brings her diverse background and experience in innovation and medical expertise to her new role at CityVet.

Her robust experience also includes practicing as a board-certified veterinary ophthalmologist, as well as successfully developing and selling a licensed therapeutic nutritional supplement to a global veterinary pharmaceutical company. In addition, Welser is a current patent holder for an ophthalmic applicator device.

“I’m thrilled to join the leadership team at CityVet where they focus on a business model of ownership for veterinarians by providing back of house support so vets can both focus on their passion of practicing medicine and their dream of being a practice owner,” says Welser. “I look forward to diving in - expanding into new opportunities that integrate high quality care and building on CityVet’s incredible reputation.”

The amazing team, supportive culture and opportunity for growth are a few of the reasons she chose CityVet. Additionally, the overall philosophy that the shared ownership model leads to rewarding and sustainable careers for veterinary teams as well as exceptional, personalized experiences for clients and highest quality treatment for pets truly resonates with Dr. Welser.

CityVet was created in 1999 with the sole purpose of creating a new way for DVMs to practice their medicine. Their unique hybrid business model offers the perks of an independent private practice and only the good parts of a group practice. CityVet’s DVMs are empowered to do what they are called to do while enjoying CityVet’s scalable business model to provide financial stability and success.

CityVet’s CEO David Boguslawski says, “Jennifer’s extensive medical expertise in the veterinary industry will be key to CityVet’s continued success in identifying new strategies for innovations that will allow our team to better serve current and future clients as we continue to grow as a company.”

He adds, “She truly understands the importance behind continual professional development and learning at CityVet and the intangible qualities of what sets us apart from any other veterinarian company.”
