Paragonix Technologies Sponsors Support Program for Pediatric Transplant Families

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. , June 01 /Businesswire/ - Paragonix Technologies, a leading organ transplant company, announced today its collaboration with Enduring Hearts, a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the quality of life for children living with transplanted hearts. Enduring Hearts’ Road to Recovery family program provides pediatric heart transplant families with gas gift cards to help subsidize the costs of burdensome and frequent travel to medical appointments.

Most families that receive these gift cards have a household income of less than $49,000 per year and caring for a child with a transplanted heart can leave many families financially vulnerable. Enduring Hearts’ family programs were created so that parents do not have to make the decision between life-saving medication for their children or paying expensive fuel costs. The Road to Recovery gas card program helps to mitigate the expensive fuel costs associated with traveling to and from countless doctor’s appointments. In the second quarter of 2023, the program provided financial assistance to 123 families through its gas gift card programs.

“At Paragonix, we deeply sympathize with the emotional and financial complexities that families experience before, during, and after organ transplant,” said Dr. Lisa Anderson, CEO of Paragonix Technologies. “We’re thrilled to be a part of a program that makes such a real difference to transplant families’ lives. Families of children with transplants should be able to revel in the gift that is organ donation, and we hope that this program will give them the resources to focus on what matters most.”

“Not only has the Paragonix-sponsored Enduring Hearts program helped our family financially with the gas card program, but it has also given us hope for the future,” said Christy Sturm, the mother of a child who has recently received a heart transplant. “Most individuals don’t realize that a transplant isn’t a cure and comes with many other unknowns. We just live by the numbers, praying our son’s donor heart will last longer than the average heart transplant. When that time comes, we are thankful that this amazing organization of specialists has dedicated their time, so that we can have as much time with our son as possible.”
