Albertsons Companies Pharmacies Announces New Vaccine Services to Protect Local Communities Against the Upcoming Respiratory Vir

BOISE, Idaho , September 27 /Businesswire/ - As cases of influenza and respiratory illness are expected to rise across the country, more than 1,700 Albertsons Companies [NYSE: ACI] pharmacy locations across Albertsons, Safeway, Vons, Jewel-Osco, Shaw’s, Acme, Tom Thumb and more, are equipped to begin administering the latest monovalent mRNA COVID vaccines from Pfizer and Moderna, the annual flu vaccine, and the respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) vaccine, which is now approved for adults ages 60 and up.

“Our pharmacy teams have been long-standing community health partners administering vital medications and vaccines to millions of patients across the country each year,” said Anthony DalPonte, Group Vice President of Pharmacy at Albertsons Cos. “Vaccines are essential in helping prevent the transmission of viruses in order to protect our family members, friends and neighbors from severe illness, particularly those who are most vulnerable to respiratory disease.”

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, this is the first fall and winter virus season where vaccines are available for the three viruses responsible for most hospitalizations. Health officials encourage vaccinations for flu, COVID 19 and RSV to prevent a multi-virus surge like the “tripledemic” of 2022. This year individuals have more options for protection with the newly available RSV vaccine, newly updated COVID 19 vaccine that target a new variant and flu immunizations that can help prevent dangerous respiratory tract infections.

Albertsons Cos.’ convenient pharmacy service helps support individuals and families, including those who may not have immediate access to a physician or clinic. Vaccinations can be scheduled by appointment or walk-in, with most locations offering evening and weekend hours. Customers can schedule appointments for up to five immunizations together using the vaccine appointment scheduler, available on the grocery app or website.

For every vaccination received at an Albertsons Cos.’ pharmacy, recipients will receive a coupon eligible for 10 percent off their next grocery purchase up to $200, and access to a free digital vaccine record.*
