Sickle Cell Assoc. Trying To Raise $1M In 100 Days

BALTIMORE, MD - The SCDAA has launched the “$1Million in 100 Days” Campaign. This national fundraising and awareness initiative is designed to focus on education and funding for sickle cell disease (SCD) programs, treatment and research. The campaign will motivate and empower communities nationally to go above and beyond the call of duty to enhance and save the many lives affected by this disease. The goal is to raise $1 million dollars in 100 days by promoting SCD education and charitable giving through several avenues to include special events, corporate initiatives and the first ever national mobile giving campaign for sickle cell.

Sonja Banks, President and COO of SCDAA said, “I am very excited about leading this campaign to success. Sickle cell disease affects an estimated 100,000 Americans and can be devastating to individuals diagnosed with it and their families. The ultimate mission of “1 Million in 100” is to empower communities to unite in an effort to create quality healthcare programs and ultimately find a cure for those living with sickle cell disease.”

The mobile giving drive will allow supporters to text the word BREAK to 52000 to donate and join in “breaking the cycle of pain.” They may, also, contribute through the SCDAA website or support a number of activities that will occur during the “$1 Million in 100 Days Campaign.”
