Teen Music Star Joins National Tour To Fight Childhood Obesity

Los Angeles, CA -- It's Time Kids organization names Romeo Miller as the national spokesperson to kick off the It's Time to Fatten Our Brain's Not Our Bodies tour across America. "Making Romeo Miller our national spokes person is the perfect fit. He's a superstar entertainer, college student and athlete who loves education and kids. He's also one of 2010's Top 5 Sexiest Man in the World. With all of this going on, Romeo takes time out of his busy schedule to exercise regularly and eat right so that he can maintain his healthy and fit physique. He's a great example of ‘hard work pays off'. His father and sister have also joined us in this movement, making our team complete, setting an example for other families to get to involved," says Lisa Stewart, national representative for the organization.

In support of First Lady Mrs. Michelle Obama; Romeo, Master P, Cymphonique, Fabulous Girls, Lil King, Veno, Miss Tami and The College Boyys have joined together to launch a national school tour. It's Time Kids to ‘Fatten Our Brains Not Our Bodies'. It's Time Kids school tour an Urban Born program and its project partners, Action for Healthy Kids and KBK Foundation will host a kid-friendly educational outreach program to address the benefits of leading a healthy lifestyle. It's Time Kids kicks off its school tour in Southern California on Friday, April 23rd inside 61st Street Elementary School located at 6020 South Figueroa Street Los Angeles, CA 90003.

"It is an honor and privilege for me to be the national spokesperson for It's Time Kids. This organizations purpose is to build a society that helps to motivate our young people to aspire for greatness, by being fit and healthy through education, entertainment and music," says Romeo. "The school tour is committed to educating the community on healthy eating and the benefits of physical activity to reduce obesity, especially childhood obesity," continues Miller.

"According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 67 percent of adults are overweight or obese and the epidemic is being spread to our younger generation. In 2001, the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry estimated that between 16 and 33 percent of children and adolescents were obese. With the number of people who are overweight or obese increasing in America, educating the youth and our families on the importance of maintaining healthy eating habits and a physically active lifestyle is crucial in reducing those numbers. This is why my family has decided to make an effort to support First Lady Obama in this fight," says P Miller.

Founder of Urban Born 501(c) (3) nonprofit organization Johnel Langerston says, "We are not a sports organization, we are life coaches that teach kids the game of life: Education, Eating right, and Exercise equal a long healthy and successful future. Most youth have a better chance in receiving a good education when they are feeling confident and healthy. Since working with at-risk youth through our program, we've noticed that even starting their day off with a healthy breakfast and exercise, they are more attentive in their classes and teachers report that kids respond with a more positive attitude. The results are happier, healthy kids with better grades, a positive outlook on life and a more promising future."

It's Time Kids is an Urban Born program to get inner-city youth on the right track mentally and physically. Their motto is "Fatten our brains and not our bodies. And focus on the three "E's": educate, eat right, & exercise. It's time to say ‘No' to childhood obesity and ‘Yes' to education. It's time to get in shape and eat right.

Action for Healthy Kids is the nation's leading nonprofit organization and the largest volunteer network fighting childhood obesity and undernourishment by working with schools to improve nutrition and physical activity to help our kids learn to eat right, be active every day and be ready to learn.

KBK Foundation is a nonprofit organization program that focus on inner city youth nutrition, health, academic, and entrepreneurship. Their goal is to build future leadership by working with schools and colleges to improve the next generation. For additional information go to: www.itstimekids.org
