FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

THE FRESH AIR FUND HOLDS SUMMER CAMP JOB FAIR

On Saturday, March 28th, The Fresh Air Fund will host a job fair for camp counselor candidates. The Fund’s five overnight camps serve 3,000 children from low-income communities every summer. The camping season starts at the end of June and runs until August 20th. Employment is for the entire summer only, and counselors must be available for staff orientation by mid-June.

Pre-registration is required. The job fair is the first step in our interview process. All candidates will have the opportunity to meet camp staff and administrators face-to-face and apply directly for job openings. To pre-register, fax a resume to (212) 681-0147 or email it to camping @freshair.org with the subject line, “Job Fair.” Visit The Fund’s Web site at www.freshair.org for details.

In 2008, 3,000 children attended five Fresh Air camps on a 2,300-acre site in Fishkill, New York. Camp Hidden Valley is for boys and girls with and without special needs, eight to 12 years old; Camp Tommy is for 12- to 15-year-old boys; Camp Anita Bliss Coler is for girls, nine to 15 years old; Camp Hayden-Marks Memorial is for nine- to 12-year-old boys, and Camp Mariah is a coed camp for 12- to 14- year-old career campers. Additionally, 2,000 young people participate in year-round weekend camping experiences. Special features shared by all camps include a planetarium, model farm, wilderness trails and a ropes course.
