Threat Of Riots Bring Oakland Leaders Together

OAKLAND, CA. -- As the jury in the trial of Johannes Mehserle began deliberating , the fate of the ex-BART officer accused of murder of Oscar Grant, leaders in Oakland held a press conference to head off violence in the wake of a possible acquittal. 

Included in the event were -- Oakland Mayor Ron Dellums and City officials, youth leaders, Urban Peace Movement, Youth Uprising, Alameda County Board of Supervisors, Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce, Oakland African-American Chamber of Commerce, Oakland Chinatown Chamber of Commerce, Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Alameda County, Oakland Vietnamese Chamber of Commerce and Faith Leaders.
