Women Business Leaders Showcased In Dallas

DALLAS -- The Dallas Regional Chamber's 15th annual Women's Business Conference will take place on Thursday, October 14th at the Sheraton Dallas from 8 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.  The Women's Business Conference is a day-long professional development conference and networking opportunity created to inform and inspire business women and men – professional, corporate and entrepreneurial – at all levels in their careers.

"Dallas is home to a dynamic community of businesswomen. The Women's Business Conference was designed to connect these leaders with information to enhance their professional development and the companies for whom they work," said Ambassador James C. Oberwetter, President, Dallas Regional Chamber. "We have a thoughtful line-up of speakers this year that will bring real-world advice on how to be successful to our attendees."

The event will feature luncheon keynote speaker Lisa Ling, a field correspondent for The Oprah Winfrey Show and contributor to ABCNews and National Geographic's Explorer. Ling has reported on issues that are too often ignored from dozens of countries around the world, including gang rape in the Congo, bride burning in India and the Lord's Resistance Army in Uganda. She is a special correspondent for CNN's Planet in Peril series and contributing editor for USA Today's USA Weekend magazine.

The conference will kick-off with two breakfast keynotes featuring nationally known speakers:

  • Karen Hughes, currently the Global Vice Chair of Burson-Marsteller.  Previously Under Secretary of State for Public Diplomacy, Counselor to President George W. Bush from 2001 to 2002, and managed the White House Offices of Communications, Media Affairs, Speechwriting and Press Secretary.
  • Susie Cranston, an organization consultant at McKinsey & Company's San Francisco office and best-selling author of the "How Remarkable Women Lead: The Breakthrough Model for Work and Life."  Cranston led a team that completed the research for the McKinsey Centered Leadership model and made remarkable discoveries about what drives and sustains successful women leaders.

Concurrent seminar speakers for the educational break-out sessions:

  • "Breakthrough in the Development Women Leaders" – Mary CranstonPillsbury Winthrop Shaw
  • "Walking the Tightrope of Success" - Hattie Hill, Hattie Hill Enterprises
  • "Stories From the Top" panel discussion:  Judy Rice, Prudential Investments; Bella Goren, American Airlines; and Carol Roehrig, BKM Total Office of Texas
  • "Employee Engagement and Change" - Teresa Henderson, Edelman

Jackson Walker L.L.P. is the Presenting Sponsor of the 2010 Women's Business Conference.  Major sponsors include: Wells Fargo – Athena Award Sponsor, Texas Instruments – Platinum Sponsor and WFAA – Gold Sponsor.
