Women In Media Alliance Preserves Its History

MCLEAN, VA - The Alliance for Women in Media (AWM) has announced that it has joined the National Coalition of the National Women’s History Museum (NWHM).  Founded in 1996, NHWM is a nonprofit education institution dedicated to preserving, interpreting and celebrating the diverse contributions that women have made to our society.  The NWHM National Coalition is composed of influential national women’s professional and service organizations that support NWHM’s mission.

“I have been an active supporter of the National Women’s History Museum for years, and the Alliance for Women in Media is proud to support this effort to institutionalize women’s contributions to our country, our economy and our culture,” commented AWM President Erin M. Fuller, CAE.  “We are excited to eventually partner our own extensive video, audio and document archive to further support NWHM’s important work.”

With a special emphasis on reaching teachers and students, NWHM delivers education on women’s history through online resources, traveling exhibitions, events, and programs.  Acquiring a permanent site on or near the National Mall in Washington, DC, for the National Women’s History Museum is an immediate objective of the National Coalition.

“AWM shares a passion with NWHM for celebrating and commemorating women’s achievements,” said AWM National Chair Sylvia Strobel.  “We look forward to collaborating with NWHM and other members of the National Coalition to recognize the role of women in transforming society.”
