Swine Flu Update and guidance for parents
May 04, 2009
Mexico has reported 506 confirmed human cases of infection, including 19 deaths. The higher number of cases from Mexico in the past 48 hours reflects ongoing testing of previously collected specimens. The United States Government has reported 226 laboratory confirmed human cases, including one death. The name Swine Flu (Novel A/H1N1) has been a controversial topic but it is important to know that the reason why it was called "Swine Flu" is because influenza viruses rarely jump from swine to humans with efficient transmission, the last time this happened was 1918. April 30, 2009
On April 29, 2009, in a speech on the House floor, Rep. Virginia Foxx claimed that Matthew Shepard's death was merely the result of a robbery gone bad.
