MINORITY NYC BUSINESSES COMPLAIN

July 03, 2020

NEW YORK - Angered by what they consider overly punitive enforcement by police, Black and Brown New York City business leaders today demanded the practice end. Led by Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams outside of New York Police headquarters, the minority businesses claimed they received exorbitant fines, required changes to a business's method of operations, including shorter hours, and even revocation of a business's liquor license.

BLM AT TRUMP TOWER

July 09, 2020

NEW YORK - New York City Mayor Bill DiBlasio today led a group of other New Yorkers in painting a large Black Lives Matters sign on Fifth Avenue in front of Trump Tower. The Mayor said the yellow sign "isn't just painted words on Fifth Avenue, but this city is committed to the meaning of the message." Today's action is one of many New York observances and demonstrations in support of the Black Lives Matter movement.

NYC STARTS TAKE BACK YOUR STREETS DRIVE

July 11, 2020

NEW YORK - With Black on Black crime growing rapidly, New York City officials have started an "Occupy the Corner" campaign in Harlem and other minority communities. Mayor Bill de Blasio said stopping the violence is a "we thing, not a me thing." The Mayor added "this is a very moving matter to me. This is the people taking back the street. We will solve our own challenges and make something good happen in our community."
