Swine Flu Update and guidance for parents
May 04, 2009
Mexico has reported 506 confirmed human cases of infection, including 19 deaths. The higher number of cases from Mexico in the past 48 hours reflects ongoing testing of previously collected specimens. National Trust for Historic Preservation Names Dorchester Academy in Midway, Georgia, to its 2009 List of America's 11 Most End

In later years, the school played a pivotal role in voter-registration drives and as a center of activity for the civil rights movement. Today, the only remaining building on the Dorchester campus, a red brick, Greek Revival structure built in 1934 as a boys' dormitory, is deteriorating and structurally compromised. The community that is doing its best to nurture and sustain the academy since its earliest days does not have the financial resources to rescue the building. ...

THE LINKS, INC. SUPPORTS SOJOURNER TRUTH MEMORIAL FUND
April 28, 2009
On April 28, 2009, Sojourner Truth, an American abolitionist and women's rights activist (1797 – November 26, 1883), will become the first African American woman to be memorialized with a bust in the United States Capitol. This honor is made possible in large part due to the support of The Links, Incorporated’s Capital City Chapter whose members are providing the pedestal on which the likeness will be placed. On Tuesday, First Lady of the United States Mrs. Michelle Obama will unveil the bust at a ceremony in the Capitol. She will be joined by Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi, Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton and other sponsors including members of The National Congress of Black Women, Inc. and The Links, Inc. ...
